How it works
Every number on a passport is derived from the evidence list by code you can read about here. If a page ever disagrees with this document, the page is wrong.
The grade describes evidence strength and coverage. It is not a condition score, a safety rating, a value estimate, an ownership determination or a guarantee.
Who supplied the evidence. A credentialed inspector's attestation scores 40; an anonymous note scores 4; an unconfirmed AI extraction scores nothing at all.

Three points per channel represented (max 18) plus one point per four attached artifacts (max 7).
Freshest item per channel against its window, blended 70/30 across the two freshest channels so one stale feed cannot hide a new inspection.
Five points per independently corroborated pair (max 15). Ten points off per unresolved conflict, and the letter is capped at C.

Identity verification is required before a first public contribution, ownership claim, professional credential or verified-grade record — not after an arbitrary upload count. The provider returns a decision and reason codes; no ID images or biometrics are stored. An IP address is a risk signal, not proof of identity.

When the record does not know, it says U, “not checked” or “no evidence” — never clean, never all-clear.
A claim is never separated from who supplied it, when, with what artifacts, and how much weight it carries.
The ruleset is published and the UI renders only its output. Nothing else in the product may invent a letter.
Machine-read fields carry zero weight, render in violet, and enter the record only when a person confirms them.
When evidence disagrees the record shows both sides, caps the grade at C, and waits for evidence.
Ownership is a separate, evidence-backed claim confirmed against title events by a verified owner.
Network signals are risk inputs. Only a verified person, ownership claim or credential changes what a contribution weighs.
Contributors are described by what they did. Nothing can be bought, starred or flooded.
